been wacthing U-571, first time i have watched it. Just a quick question referance weapons on board the U-Boat itself apart from the main weapons of the U-Boat, i take it the only weapons on baord would have been pistols? P-38's etc.

Any help appricated

Shaun

No - as with most ships they would have had a full armoury - Boarding Parties etc. So K98s, MP40s and pistols would have been kept on board along with MGs and ammunition. I would also imagine but do not know - that grenades and possibly demolition charges would be kept also.......

They are 100% repro, I have two sets.

They are okay but held up against original denim BD's then you can tell the difference. For the price they are okay though and come in all sizes, whereas original BD's are on the small size (for 1940/50's slim people  .)

They come in two styles, repro Brit denims for Brit re-enactors, or converted KM denims for U-Boat crew - gold KM buttons added, in other words.

ASAP, I'd say.

Keep a look-out for the forthcoming U-Boat group website. All will be unveiled within a couple of weeks (watch this space :D )

Ok my charater for the U-boat society will be either Obersteuermann or Funkmaat, dependant on the role what the CO of the society wants at any given events if this is ok with the CO?. Also the awards is a good way of wearing and earning them too!! So you can wear them with pride as it were!!

Keep up the good work!!!

Shaun

Ah yes, all awards and rank have to be earned, Shaun  .

I've been very busy and jacking up some interesting events. An events diary will posted on the website quite soon.

Would RN deck boots be aceptable for use with my Obersteuermann or Funkmaat impression? As these are studless.

Provided they don't have toe-caps, yes (the German armed forces never had them.)

Kevin.

I was one of the first members and alternated between Obersteuermann and dieselobermaschienst (is that spelt correctly?)

Ask Kevin Crago about it? he was an original member as well.....................in fact he was the bar

Still have a gold KM belt buckle and a converted bundy navel officers type cap some were hidden in the cupboard.

And if I hear "ALARM" once more I'll jump overboard 8)
