Hi guys, heres abit of a restoration (if you can call it that) question! Okay so I've recently purchased a Shoei MP44 (it'll be mailed to me on Monday) at a reduced price. This is because some ape has ground off the 2 metal loops (where the bar that holds the ejector port cover on) above the ejector port!
Now my question is....how the heck do I put those back on!? It still has the cover but no loops to hold it to the gun! I was thinking of shaping some metal loops myself and attaching them with some metal bonding stuff to the frame. I imagine it should do the job...of course I'd only do that if it looks good! But does anybody else have any ideas of how I could fix this??
It's a pretty early Shoei model as it's numbered 225! Any advice would be great!!!
Thanks

Tom

PS: Heres a picture, you can just about make out the missing pivots!

you need to take it to someone who knows welding and who is good at welding small objects
with pictures of what it should look like

(have you tried the moders section on this forum ???)

yes you could try it yourself using various resins and solders but at the end of the day it might look worse that if it was left alone

go to a professional due to the value of it i wouldnt recommend any private individual
just in case they do a " paul daniels " disappearing act on you

Too right! I don't want someone skipping town with my new gun! I'll check out that modders section on the forum! I didn't know there was one! Thanks!

You may send an email to shoei-germany, I think they will have this kind of spares. I've looked on my Shoei documents and this spare should be available.

Hey Jerome, thanks for the info! I'll check that out though I don't know if it will come with the documents as it has been pre-owned already. If not I'm sure you wouldn't mind (or someone!) passing the email address onto me so that I can get in touch with them?
Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,

I've looked the one you purchased a long time at modelguncollector...and finally bought a complete new one at shoei germany. :D
Here is the link: www.shoei-germany.de

If you need a copy of the doc, I will try to make you a picture of it but don't know if it will be clear enough.

Jerome

O wow Jerome! Was it yours before I bought it? I'm going to wait till I recieve it...hopefully on Tuesday and then decide what the best course of action will be. I know a few people that are good at metal working, a friend of mine owns a big machine shop so hopefully he'll be able to look at it for me! But I suppose it wouldn't hurt for me to contact them anyway! How's their English? My German is abit rusty....its been about 6 years since I took that class!

Tom
