Wow! That is an incredible custom! What's the legal side like though? Being top venting, I would asume that that's AoK, but what about the making of it? I assume it was done by a professional?

The legal issues pose no difference to any other custom blank firer.

It cannot be converted to fire a projectile, missile or live round.

In fact, unlike steel Stens or similar, this MP44 is made from Mazac ! As most of you may know, Mazac is not the best metal to work with (cannot weld to this metal)

It took along time to get right - but well worth it :)

I used it at the Odyssey and it worked well. It does stovepipe from time to time but it is 99% reliable.

I have had a ZF4 Scope and mount fitted to it now ! :) :)

I'm thinking of getting an Mkb42(H) Shoeii model.

Can these be converted to 9mm or was the Stg44 a PFC firer before it was converted ?

The action on the Mkb42 and Stg44 looks externally the same but i dont know if it would convert the same.

Any ideas ?

I still dont fully understand how you converted the bolt head and all the bits necessary to make it fire 9mm...

Would this be possible with other Pfc firing replicas?

A new bolt was made for it - took along time to get right !

Not sure about the Mkb42(H) - I assume it would be the same.... ?

According to references, there were minor differences between that & MP43/MP44

There are two versions of the MKb42 (H) one with and one without bayonet lug. Between the MP43, MP43/1, MP44 and the Stg 44 there are minor differences. The Stg44 was the name used from october 1944 on and did not have the threaded muzzle end and had a simplified front sight. MP44 was the name used from april 1944 untill october 1944 and had a simplified housing. The MP43/1 had a straight barrel unlike the MKb 42(H), MP43, MP44 and StG 44 which have stepped barrels.

But the action is the same?

The action of the Mkb 42 (H) was changed from firing from an open bolt to firing from a closed bolt. The action of these weapons are very different. The result was named MP43/1. The actions of all guns named MP43, MP44 or StG44 are the same although there are two versions of the bolt.

I suppose the big question is could it be converted to fire 9mm the same as the Stg's. Without being able to compare the two, i would be very reluctant to buy one not knowing whether i could find someone to convert it.

You will have to find out because i don't think anybody has converted a Shoei Mkb 42 to 9mm before. I think it can be done by the same person that converted Weissmann's Shoei MP44.
