Just out of interest, are there any around at all?

I have pictures of one in the WW2 GI in colour photos book, but apart from that I dont know much about them at all!

Thanks

Hi Ramsey......it depends on what you want.If you want the Johnson LMG then they are very rare Like the 1stSSF used with the curved magazine
But if you want the Johnson rifle then they do turn up from time to time.....expect to pay £900-£1000 for one though.........GULP

Bremner Arms in the USA make a New / Old Stock copy but you cant import it.The Dutch and the Chilean Armies used them post WW2 so maybe some dutch dealer could put you in the picture.

Keep em rolling

I was just looking for some general info on the LMG. As I said I saw one in the WW2 GI in colour photos book, and I had never seen one before!

Why were they only used by the 1st SSF and not everyone else?

I doubt I would ever be able to own one, or want to own one really, because I wouldnt be able to use it with any of the displays we do!

Thanks for the info.

Hi Ramsey they were used ENTIRELY by the USMC and the 1st SSF. The army evaluated them but preferred the BAR and the Marines through lack of suitable magazine pouches traded nearly all the LMGs to the SSF for 125 tons of explosives................

A glowing report of the "Buck Rogers" gun was filed by the Marine Raiders on Bougainville but the high sight kep snagging in jungle vines and the inability of the Johnson company to mass produce led to its downfall in 1944.

IMHO a lovely looking weapon

Keep em rolling
