More like a bolt .30cal .50cal? Need to look at the front and back to make sure or what would be the bolt face.

it needs cleaning up a bit more and photos taken from all 6 sides to give a definate answer

as it might not be intact

oh and a ruler or something alongside /
can of coke even so we can get an idea on size ?

As it heavy I also presume .30 or .50, will clean it up and make some photographs

suprised to find it wrapped in a parachute as if someone wanted to pick it up later on, the area were I found it was used by 43 Wessex,Germans, and later probably also 82 or 101 US

you might find its not american but german

part of a captured weapon buried to stop it being used against allied troops
(too bulky to carry and to big to hide)
and yes wrapped for retrieval later by someone that fell in battle ??

just an idea you never know !!!!!!!!!!!
