One thing that makes me wonder how old the design/items are, is the use of allen head bolts. I can't say I've seen any Allen head bolts in use on WWII and later kit.

The "AA-sight" used on the german MG42 looks similar ... - and yes - would be of better use with a pedestal mount ...
