Would the Rangers (2nd) ever use the browning with tripod for infantry support i.e. running with it setting it up and then shooting?

Would it be one or two man teams?

There are pics of Rangers at Pointe du Hoc using a .30 on tripod.
Pic is in Spearheading D-Day.

Youd have a hell of a job doing it with a 1 man team !

The 30cal team would be in its seperate weapon platoons according to the QM make up off infantry companys. But the 30cal teams would be assigned to different squads/platoons for that added fire support. The 30cal team would consist of 3 men-

Gunner
Loader
Ammunition bearer.

There are pictures of Infantry assaulting the normandy beaches with pack boards with the 30cals on the back while they carry a carbine as a 30cal wasnt a assualting weapon and plus the elevation levels wouldnt allow them to hit the top of the cliff when they get to the beach.

Infantry company is 3 rifle platoons , 1 weapons platoon and a HQ.
The weapons platoon containing 2 .30 cals and 3 60 morters (why this wasnt 3 and 3 i dont know) Theres also a .50 cal which is sometimes considered part of the weopons platoon, but normally part of company HQ.
I would have thought that some units would get hold of an extra .30, so that 1 could support each platoon, but how commonly that was possible i dont know.

Obviously this organisation went out the window, as the assault waves had to fit in the boats. I havent got the books handy but generally 1 60 and 1 .30 would be in the standard boats. with units converting to normal organisation, somwhere in land when possible.

This is all irelavent, as Rangers were organised in small companys, instead of large companys split into platoons.
i cant remenber exact set up, so wheres a ranger when you nead one ??

infantry .30 cal team is 5 men
Heavy company M1917a1 is 7 men.
